Spring and Waterfalls
May was the perfect time to trek north. Avoiding most big highways, we started in Ricketts Glen State Park in PA and hiked many trails to see beautiful forests and waterfalls. From there, we hit the Finger Lakes in New York to spend a couple of days with great friends who took us on a fun wine tasting tour. Then we traveled to Watkins Glen and Letchworth State Parks where the trails and waterfalls got even bigger and better. The gorges in both areas are amazing.
We arrived in Niagara Falls area and stayed at Four Mile Creek State Park, right on the banks of Lake Ontario. We loved the campground and found hiking trails close by that allowed us to park and hike into Niagara Falls State Park. This is a great area to experience all of the Falls and we did by taking in the Cave of the Winds, Maid of the Mist and Whirlpool Rapids.
Then the Cherry Bomb took its first trip out of the US as we crossed the border into Canada. We went to Niagara on the Lake after hearing so many great things about the area and loved it. We stayed 2 nights at the Harbour House Hotel which is right in town and Ally did great in her first time at a hotel. We really enjoyed the area, nice restaurants, shops and I even got to play some golf at the oldest, existing golf course in North America with spectacular views of Lake Ontario on almost every hole.
